Spring Letter 2008
Hello, Everyone:
Another Northfield Summer is fast approaching and I’m sure you’re looking forward to it as much as I am. Here is some news and some important dates:
- Ridge water was turned on by May 1 and will continue through October, weather permitting.
- Steve Severance will be picking up trash on the Ridge from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. He will then skip a couple weeks, and then resume into October for late season visitors. Be sure to buy the mandatory city trash bags – you MUST use these bags or your trash will not be picked up by Steve or accepted at the Transfer Station. They are available at IGA, Mim’s and the Shell Station. You can also pick up a dump sticker in case you need to make a separate run to the Transfer Station. They’re only $5 at City Hall.
- Rafaela reports that the Northfield Pool will open on Saturday June 21, 2008 and close on Sunday, August 17th. The hours for both the snack bar and the pool will be an hour later than last year: 12-7 daily, weather permitting. All of last year’s lifeguards will be returning. Both the Pool and the Club House are scheduled for painting so they should look great.
- The Northfield Campus is still on the market, though there are rumors that some faith-based groups are seriously interested. NMH has a number of summer tenants including the Music and Performance camp (no longer linked to American Idol) For more information on the school click on “Northfield Campus News” on our RusticRidge.org web site.
- The Moore Cottage Tennis Courts were professionally reconditioned after the winter and are already in excellent shape for play.
- The Golf Course is open and Fred Avery has returned as Manager for the summer.
- Don’t forget the annual 4th of July Parade on Friday the 4th. Start gathering at the North Lane flag pole at 9:30am. Bring a flag, noise makers (especially loud children) and red, white and blue clothing! We’ll walk along Woodruff Way to our cottage on Linden Avenue where we’ll have cookies and juice and lots of toys.
- We lost a number of dear friends over the winter. Helen Thompson, Barbara Moore, George Thomas and Ted Powell all passed on. We will miss them very much.
- The Annual Meeting is scheduled for 9:30 AM Saturday, August 2. We’re not sure on the location yet - the Music Building is already booked. The School promises to find another location for us soon and we’ll let you know. As usual, the picnic will be held that evening at the screened-in pavilion at the golf course.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Bob Ziegenhagen, President
